Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Surgeries are performed only on weekdays, from Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). No surgeries are conducted on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). However, if the surgery takes place on Friday, the follow-up examination will still be conducted on Saturday. The clinic is open on Saturday but closed on Sunday. Before booking your flight to Istanbul, make sure to have your preferred appointment date confirmed.
We recommend a stay of 2 or 3 nights. You can arrive at any time on the day of arrival. The pre-operative examination and surgery both take place on the second day. On the third day, the post-operative check-up is conducted in the morning. Therefore, your return flight should be scheduled no earlier than around 2 PM on the third day. If you’d like to explore Istanbul, we recommend staying for 3 nights.
We can reserve an appointment for you with lead times ranging from several months to as little as one week before your treatment. Treatments can be scheduled on any weekday – except Saturdays and Sundays. On Saturdays, only follow-up examinations are conducted, and the clinic is closed on Sundays. The clinic will also be closed on the following holidays: April 8–14, 2024, and June 14–19, 2024. Please ensure your preferred appointment date is confirmed before booking your flight.
A companion is warmly welcome. All transfers can also be used by the companion. A double room will be booked at our partner hotel accordingly.
You book your flight to Istanbul yourself. The cost is usually around 200 euros, and often even under 150 euros (round trip) during the off-season (fall/winter/spring). You can search for the cheapest flights to Istanbul and book conveniently online here: www.momondo.de.
If you prefer to choose a different hotel, you can book one of your choice (e.g., via www.booking.com). Transfers between your hotel and the clinic will be provided as long as the hotel is located in the Kadiköy district on the Asian side (within the clinic’s vicinity). Please make sure to inform us of your hotel’s address. However, we strongly recommend staying at our partner hotel due to the heavy traffic in Istanbul.
At the clinic, you will be assisted by staff who are fluent in both German and Turkish (Dorothea & Hümeyra). Additionally, our main office in Istanbul is located close to the clinic. This means that Health Travels is always on-site and available to support you.
Payment is made on-site at the clinic after the pre-operative examination, either by credit card or in cash in euros. Due to exchange rate fluctuations and potential fees from your bank, we recommend paying in cash in euros.
The results of a laser eye surgery are typically very stable in the long term, and a re-LASIK is rarely needed. The warranty includes a free correction in cases of significant vision deterioration (from -1 diopter or worse). However, accommodation and travel expenses (e.g., flights) are not covered. For multifocal lenses, the warranty covers a lifetime free treatment for posterior capsule opacification (PCO), a common side effect after lens surgery. This condition can be easily and quickly treated with a YAG laser, and the treatment is included as a one-time service under the warranty.
